Find an Acupuncturist

January 16, 2016Julie ZhuAcupuncture

A patient of mine said to me the other day that she had difficulty when she tried to find an Acupuncturist in her area.

She had heard of my clinic via word of mouth which is probably the best way to find one. Satisfied clients are quick to tell their friends and colleagues about a health practitioner if the service they received was excellent and they got results.

When I try to find a service I usually do a Google search. This is limited though as these search engines focus on keywords so you have to be specific with what you are searching for.
I was interested so tried to find an Acupuncturist myself. My searches included; Acupuncturist Adelaide, Adelaide Acupuncturist, find an Acupuncturist, Acupuncturist Marino, Acupuncture Adelaide. I got mixed results. Obviously the search with the word Marino in it returned my website at the top of page one as it is my Clinic Address.

What was interesting was that I didn’t know some of the clinics that I found and if I was a patient, would not know if they were qualified, licensed, experienced and reliable. It is easy to check though. AHPRA is the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and all Medical Practitioners in Australia have to be registered with them.If you are trying to find an Acupuncturist that is licensed to practice you can visit their home page where you will be able to check they are registered. You type in the Family name and select their health profession in the drop down box and hit search.

Another way to find an Acupuncturist in your area is to search the associations’ website. My association is The Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA) . Their website also has a Practitioner Search facility. You can just search using your postcode, suburb and the modality of the practitioner. In this case Acupuncturist. This search will return the results of any  acupuncturists in your area.

If you still don`t have any success and want to find an Acupuncturist in your area then contact me through my website and I will be happy to recommend someone.

Hope that helps!

Cheers, Julie
